To improve the general health and well-being of people with disabilities through the medium of horses
The Unicorn Centre offers state-of-the-art facilities including indoor and outdoor arenas with dust free surfaces and galleried viewing. The indoor arena has a unique mounting area and hoist for disabled riders and a judge's box. A hearing loop system has been installed. With over 20 acres of grazing and access to many miles of bridleways without requiring road access, the Centre is unique in the North East.
All our teaching staff are fully qualified RDA and BHS instructors and have completed first aid and safeguarding training..
The Centre has a range of horses and ponies, carefully chosen for their temperament, size and ability to work with disabled children and adults. We also have a horse-riding simulator, Blackberry, used for assessment, therapy and training.
A fully equipped conference/training room with kitchen and toilet is available for hire by local organisations and businesses and arena hire is available in the evenings and on weekends. Prices available on request.
